Mulakaat: Samkhun te Bedaar Gasun: Youth Dialogue on Awareness and Empowerment Held in Baramulla

In a compelling initiative aimed at youth awareness and collective empowerment, the Save Youth Save Future Foundation (SYSF) organized a thought-provoking dialogue titled “Mulakaat: Samkhun te Bedaar Gasun: Dialogue for Enlightenment” at Dak Bungalow, Baramulla.

The event witnessed the active presence of key administrative and police officials, including Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Mr. Minga Sherpa (IAS), and Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Gurindarpal Singh (IPS). A diverse audience comprising youth, civil society members, academics, and religious scholars contributed to an engaging atmosphere of reflection, responsibility, and forward-thinking discourse.
Opening the session with a stirring address, Ms. Anika Nazir, President of the Women’s Wing of SYSF, called upon the youth to rise as informed agents of change. She emphasized the crucial role of women in social transformation and underscored the urgency of confronting issues such as drug abuse, misinformation, and disempowerment through knowledge and unity.

The expert panel brought deep insight and clarity to the conversation. Mufti Tariq Ahmad Misbahi reflected on the religious and ethical responsibilities in addressing social ills. Dr. Aijaz, Registrar at the Department of Psychiatry, GMC Baramulla, spoke on the psychological dimensions of addiction. Legal perspectives were offered by Advocate Sibtain, while Dr. Tariq Chalkoo, Head of Physics at GDC Baramulla, and Dr. Firdous, Physical Educationist, stressed the transformative power of education, science, and sports.
In his keynote remarks, DC Baramulla Mr. Minga Sherpa announced the launch of a district-wide drug de-addiction awareness campaign, beginning at the school level and extending to grassroots Panchayat initiatives. He emphasized the importance of digital literacy, innovation, and skill development as key tools for youth empowerment.

SSP Baramulla Mr. Gurindarpal Singh, in his address, expressed deep concern over the escalating drug menace, stating that its consequences today may surpass those once caused by conflict. He reaffirmed that J&K Police is fully committed and will continue to make all possible efforts to eradicate this menace, working in close coordination with civil society, youth organizations, and institutions. He acknowledged the crucial role that youth, families, and communities must play in this collective battle. An interactive session followed the panel discussions, providing a platform for direct dialogue between participants and officials. Youth attendees posed thoughtful questions and received insightful responses from the experts and dignitaries. The session also witnessed several meaningful proposals, including the establishment of village libraries, creation of playgrounds, and the integration of athletes and artists into ongoing awareness campaigns. |

Serving as moderator and host, Dr. Sahil Dar, Neuro-Acoustician and DICE Incharge, guided the proceedings with clarity, engagement, and professionalism. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, experts, and participants. He urged everyone to carry forward the message of unity, awareness, and responsibility — affirming that Kashmir’s future lies in the hands of its conscious and committed youth.
