On October 24, 2017 inaugural ceremony of Range level sports festival 2017 was held at Prof. Showkat Ali Stadium (Govt. Degree College Baramulla) in a very enthusiastic, dazzling manner with huge fan fare.

 A large gathering of people from different walks of life especially youth from all five Districts of North Kashmir attended the function. Shri Imran Raza Ansari, Hon’ble Minister for information technology, Youth services & sports and Technical Education was the chief guest who inaugurated the opening ceremony of the festival. The other senior officers including Shri V.K. Singh- IPS Special DGP PHQ J&K, Sh. Vidhi Kumar Birdi-IPS, DIG NKR (Chairman Range Level Sports Festival) and other senior officers of Police including Sh Imtiyaz Hussain Mir SSP Bla ,Sh Gh Jeelani SP PD Handwara, Sh Shamsheer Hussain SSP Kupwara & Sh Zulufkar Azaad SSP Bandipore / Army/CRPF / DC Baramulla and also Chairman Of SAVE YOUTH SAVE FUTURE Mr Wajahat Farooq Bhat & other civil administrative officers attended the function.

On the inaugural function, the Chief Guest Sh. Imran Raza Ansari Hon’ble Minister lauded the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police in organizing such type of sports activities which provides platform to the youth to excel in various activities. He said that this festival is a noble initiative and these kinds of activities will help to bring out the hidden talent among the youth of Kashmir which will pave their way for national and international sports events.

This sports festival includes competitions in various sports disciplines like cricket, Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Tug of War, Karate, athletics etc.

At the occasion cultural programmes were also presented by school children. Showcasing rich cultural heritage of the state, which was highly enjoyed by the public present on the occasion
